Le championnat Indy Lights 2021 est la 35e saison du championnat d'Indy Lights et la 19e sous l'égide d'IndyCar. Après une interruption en 2020 en raison de la pandémie de COVID-19, la saison a débuté le 17 avril au Barber Motorsports Park et s'est déroulée sur 20 courses réparties sur dix meetings[1].

Changements

  • Le 7 octobre 2020, Indy Lights a annoncé une série de changements pour la saison 2021. La bourse du champion est passée à 1 250 000 dollars. Les trois premiers du championnat ont chacun gagné un test de l'IndyCar Series et toutes les voitures étaient désormais équipées d'un halo en titane pour accroître la sécurité des pilotes[2].

Calendrier

Le calendrier provisoire de 2021 a été annoncé le 21 octobre 2020, la dernière manche devant être annoncée à une date ultérieure[26]. Cette dernière manche a été confirmée par la suite comme se déroulant au Barber Motorsports park, après que la série IndyCar y ait déplacé son ouverture de saison[27]. Le calendrier était le premier depuis 2002 à ne pas inclure le Freedom 100 à Indianapolis Motor Speedway. La manche de Toronto initialement prévue a été remplacée par un deuxième week-end indépendant à Mid-Ohio en octobre.
